I’ve been skeptical right from the outset of Disney’s purchase of Marvel Entertainment. It’s been my belief that the merger would some things up and here’s a new example that I was just made aware of.
Boom Studios acquired the rights to make comic books of Pixar properties. They began producing comics of “The Incredibles” and I picked up some trade paperbacks, which collected three issues each. Here’s the last page of volume 5, which collects issues 13, 14 and 15.

Wow. Surprising to say the least. It appears that the third “super” to be killed during the deveolopment of the Omnidroid, Everseer, had his brain removed and is now being used by this villain, Xerek, to defeat the Incredibles. You have my attention. Good plot twist that I didn’t see coming. Very curious to know how it will turn out.
But it’s quite possible we won’t find out. After Disney purchased Marvel, Marvel acquired the rights to the Pixar properties. Boom Studios can’t finish the story. Marvel is releasing a comic book on Cars, to cash in on the release of film “Cars 2.” Unless there’s an “Incredibles 2,” I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney-Marvel decided that making Incredibles comic books didn’t pencil out.
Ending comic book issues on a cliffhanger and then not finishing the story is a practice I have little patience for. Perhaps Disney/Marvel will finish the story, but I’m doubting it. If I’m wrong I’ll be happy to eat my words since I really would like to learn more about the Supers that Syndrome “killed.”
