ABOUT

Since December, 2007 ”Comics and Comics” has been entertaining crowds with the geekiest stand-up comedy imaginable.  The material presented within the show covers all things fanboy: comic books, movies, videogames, role-playing, action figures, etc. The show was created by stand-up veteran Tom Franck who books comedians who are not only the finest working today, but who have the geek street cred appropriate for the show.   Franck himself can claim the ultimate nerd comedian status as an appearance in Green Lantern 143 labeled him as the top comedian in the DC universe.

Due to the high volume of comedians requesting to perform on “Comics and Comics” since its launch, another version of the show, “Crisis On Infinite Comics and Comics,” was started several months after the regular show. While the normal “Comics and Comics” shows feature about six comedians, “Crisis” shows have lineups of 15-20 comics. This secondary venue allows comedians appropriate for the theme of the show to be recognized and booked much sooner than if the “Crisis” didn’t exist.

Each “Comics and Comics” show begins with a trivia contest to warm up the crowd.  Because of the geek erudition of the crowd, seldom is the audience stumped no matter how ridiculously difficult the questions become.

“Comics and Comics” shows also feature a monologue by Tom Franck called “But Let’s Face It” — an opinion piece which addresses topics relevant to the world of fanboys.  “But Let’s Face It” has quickly become a highlight of the show and seen much popularity on in the internet.

Audience members of “Comics and Comics” are not only treated to an evening of top-notch stand-up comedy, but can also quench their thirst with a stunning variety of exotic cane-sugar sodas including: Faygo, Boylan’s and Mexican Coke at the open bar.

“Comics and Comics” was featured on a segment on NPR’s “Marketplace” and has been performed at the San Diego Comic-Con, Anime Expo and the Long Beach Comic-Con.

  1. Hello Comics and Comics,

I am an administrator for otakuwanted.com and I do the PR for the site. As a recent attendee of Anime Expo 2010 I received the privilege of watching comedian Tom Franck take the stage at the Last Comic Standing event.

Our team, The Otaku Wanted Crew, makes it a point to record this event every year and post it on the Otaku Wanted Channel on our Website.

As a courtesy, as well as an attempt to spread the word about otakuwanted.com, we wanted to relay the message to Tom Franck and Comics and Comics that the video footage of his performance at Anime Expo 2010 is available on our site.

  2. Hi there,

My name is Chris and I am the creator of comicly.com which is a brand new
comic website that showcases the latest news from various comic companies,
independant comic writers, blogs, etc. Instead of spending time searching
through various sites, Comicly showcases the latest headlines from
multiple websites and put them all on the homepage with a short description
    of the post.

Comicly is currently live and I am looking for comic creators and highly
visited websites that want to be a part of comicly. I have 2 main sections
that I want to mention. There is a “featured” section and a “comic news
section” The featured section is exclusive and will be the first thing
people see when visiting comicly. This is a perfect location for a company to advertise an upcoming event, auction, new product released, etc.

The “comic news” section is free and will
feature the latest news feeds from sites.

If you are interested in having your site/company included, please respond,
or send me an email – chris@comicly.com . I will go into further detail once
I know you are interested in this new idea.

There are also MANY advertising opportunites available. If you are interested in directing you traffic strictly to comic book readers, then this is something you MUST consider!

I look forward to your feedback!
